How To Fix Mixed Content SSL Issues

December 23, 2016

Recently there has been a lot of interest in this subject after Google announced that they are planning to rank SSL enabled sites higher in search.  As a result we’ve introduced FREE SSL certificates for all our shared hosting clients via Let’s Encrypt.

In some cases this has resulted in customers having mixed content issues on their site that can produce the following error:

Your connection to YourWebsite is encrypted with 256-bit encryption. However, this page includes other resources which are not secure. These resources can be viewed by others while in transit, and can be modified by an attacker to change the behaviour of the page.

This is due in most cases to the issue were links are hard coded in a database with links to http:// in the URL whereas for a site to be fully compliant they need to be relative links (no http at all) or https links. If you are really luck then all you will need to do is add this plugin: SSL Insecure Content Fixer Otherwise for more information on the cause of this issue and potencial solutions to the issue can be found here:

If after reviewing the above resources you are unable to resolve the mixed content issues on your site we recommend the following web development partners and also offer a Website Tune up package where we can resolve this problem for you.
